APM to operate Therapy Focus to safeguard disability services in WA

APM Group is pleased to confirm its proposal to assume control of Therapy Focus has been approved at a Meeting of Creditors.

Working collaboratively with the Administrator Rob Kirman from McGrathNicol Restructuring and the Board and executive of Therapy Focus, this arrangement ensures Therapy Focus can continue its mission under APM’s stewardship, delivering stability, sustainability, and continuity of care for thousands of Western Australians with disability.

Therapy Focus is to become part of APM Group safeguarding disability services for families in Western Australia

APM and Therapy Focus are both proud Western Australian companies connected by their common purpose and values built on the core premise of providing high quality, evidenced based services to those in the community who require additional support to optimise their lives.

Founded in 1998, Therapy Focus supports more than 4,000 customers across the state through its multi-site clinic and community therapy model.

Its dedicated workforce of approximately 250 staff, including 160 allied health professionals, will remain in place—providing job security for staff and reassurance for customers and their families who rely on these essential services.

APM, established in Western Australia in 1994 by an occupational therapist, shares a deep connection to the state and a strong values-led approach.

APM’s purpose of enabling better lives aligns closely with Therapy Focus’ mission of improving lives

Together, these organisations bring more than 50 years of combined experience supporting people with disability.

By uniting our organisational capabilities, we will strengthen service delivery and increase capacity to meet growing demand across Western Australia.

Megan Wynne, APM Founder and Executive Chair, said “from the commencement of my career as an Occupational Therapist in Collie, to today, overseeing the strategic direction of APM, I remain firmly committed to ensuring that the disability sector is sustainable and can continue to support those most in need. Access to quality supports for participants is our priority.”

Current Therapy Focus Directors, Ms Fiona Payne and Mr Tony Vis, will remain on the Therapy Focus board.

Ms Payne said that “with the support of APM and the ability to leverage the strengths and expertise of the respective organisations, we will ensure that Therapy Focus remains a strong, stable provider for Western Australians.”

APM operates one of Australia’s leading allied health therapy businesses through its existing operations Early Start Australia, Everyday Independence and Lifecare and looks forward to welcoming the Therapy Focus team.

The Therapy Focus brand will continue in the market.

This transition will create opportunities to expand services, support more people, and provide career pathways for staff. Over the coming weeks, Therapy Focus will engage with participants, their families, and staff to provide clarity and reassurance about our commitment to stability, capability, and continuity of care.

Therapy Focus has been a trusted name in disability services for decades.

At APM we are proud to ensure its legacy continues and to support its dedicated team in delivering high-quality care for Western Australians.

“This is an outstanding result for Therapy Focus and its key stakeholders, particularly in the context of the current challenges facing providers in the NDIS sector.  I would like to thank APM and its advisors for the collaborative approach they have taken to achieve this outcome for all parties”, Rob Kirman lead Administrator from McGrathNicol said.
