Introducing Michael Vincent: a diverse background to enhance occupational rehabilitation

Published on 25 Mar 2025

APM WorkCare is delighted to introduce Michael Vincent, our newest South Australian team member, who’s path to becoming an osteopath and rehabilitation consultant is as varied as it is interesting.

Originally from New Zealand and recently becoming an Australian citizen, Michael gained experience in a range of industries from dairy farming, food and beverage, and water well drilling.

These industries afforded him an appreciation for hard labour and resilience, qualities that deeply inform his current practice in osteopathy and contributes to a genuine interest when completing Worksite Assessments and understanding a client/worker’s occupational duties.

Inspiration behind the practice

Michael was moved to study osteopathy after personal injury led him to the healing hands of an osteopath.

That experience opened his eyes to the potential of holistic care, and he decided to pursue a career providing that same recovery support and understanding to others.

“Cows are lovely, but they are not conversationalists! Helping people directly is what drew me to this profession," shares Michael.

Merging osteopathy with occupational rehabilitation

In his role, Michael's osteopathic experience brings a crucial, holistic perspective to occupational rehabilitation.

Osteopathy teaches that the whole person must be considered for true health and recovery.

This belief is a natural fit with the rehabilitation services offered by APM WorkCare, where each client's recovery and attainment of goals goes beyond their medical needs.

Adopting a client-centred outlook

Michael's unique method to rehabilitation centres around making sure clients' voices are heard, rolling out an inclusive approach that leads to better recovery experiences.

His strategy of keeping the client, employer and key stakeholders informed promises a cooperative and successful rehabilitation process. 'Communication is everything' is Michael’s mantra.

Goals for a new chapter in occupational rehabilitation

Within the occupational rehabilitation sector, Michael brings the same level of personalised care from his private practice into a broader context.

He is an advocate for incorporating a personal touch into the technical realm of rehabilitation to support both injured workers and employers effectively.

We’re excited to have him onboard!
