Need a Workplace Assessment?

If you have a disability and are employed, a workplace assessment can help identify what you need to make your job easier.

APM, a member of the National Panel of Assessors, provides independent workplace assessments to determine if you or your employer need support.

If you have any questions about your workplace assessment, please call us on 1300 376 431.

What we offer

Depending on your needs, we may provide ongoing support, new tools, equipment, or technology to help you perform your job better.

Once you have found a job through a Disability Employment Services provider, you may be assessed for one of three support programs:

  1. Ongoing Support: One-on-one assistance to learn new tasks.
  2. Supported Wage System: Ensuring fair pay structures for your role.
  3. Workplace Modifications: Identifying specific modifications, tools, or equipment needed for your job.

How Workplace Assessments work

These assessments are conducted by organisations that did not help you find your job through a Disability Employment Services (DES) program.

If you are with APM for DES, another registered provider will assess you at work.

If you found employment through another provider, you may be referred to APM Employment Services for the assessment.

Ongoing Support

  • Evaluates the support you’ve received since starting your job or your last assessment.
  • An assessor will interview you and your DES provider about your job performance and support needs.
  • Determines if there’s a need to adjust the level of on-the-job support.
  • Support needs are rated as flexible, moderate, or high.
  • Usually conducted at your workplace.

Supported Wage System

  • Helps your employer adjust your tasks and pay rate if you can’t perform at the same level as your colleagues.
  • Ensures you get paid fairly and helps make your job easier and more productive.
  • Wage assessment agreements and reports are shared with Fair Work Australia, your employer, you, and your DES provider.

Workplace Modifications

  • Recommends tools, equipment, technological aids, or workplace alterations.
  • Conducted by a qualified health professional who assesses your job tasks, capabilities, and workplace.
  • Aims to make your workplace more flexible and accessible.
  • Funding for modifications or specialised equipment may be available from the Employment Assistance Fund.
